When you get your vinyl decal it will still be on it's backing with transfer tape on top of it. The transfer tape is there to allow you to pull the decal off the backing and place it on the surface you want to apply it to. The transfer tape is not as sticky as the vinyl itself so after you apply your decal to your window or other SMOOTH surface, you can easily peel the transfer tape off leaving just the decal. BEFORE you even think about applying your decal you must first prepare the surface it is going on by first wiping it down with water. Make sure the surface you are putting it on is SMOOTH and free of any dust. If any dust or air is able to get under the decal it will weaken the adhesive and cause your decal to peel away and eventually fall off over time. Once you have cleaned the surface AND made sure it is completely dried off you will be ready to begin.
In this example I'm using the Stardust decal.
| Start by peeling the decal from the backing by grabbing a corner of the transfer tap and pulling it away. | | Apply it to the window or other surface starting with one edge. As you're laying it down from one edge to the other, use some kind of card or other hard flat object to push the air out from under the decal as you're applying it to the surface. | | One you've applied the whole decal smooth it out to make sure you got all the air out from under it. | | Grab the corner of the transfer tape and pull it off, leaving the decal behind. | You're done! The most important things to remember are: Make sure the surface is clean, and make sure you use something (you can even use your finger if you're good enough) to make sure you get all the air out from under the decal. Tiny bubbles here and there are ok and are likely to happen but if you get a big bubble it will eventually spread in the heat and cold and cause the decal to peel. If you do get a big bubble in the middle use a small sharp object (like a saftey pin) to poke a tiny hole on the EDGE of the bubble and push the air out by rubbing your finger or flat object from the opposite end of the bubble to the hole you made. Then smooth it out and make sure the little hole you made flattens. Also remember these are not reuseable. Once you apply a decal that's where it will stay, however they are NOT permanent. If you wish to remove a decal you can simply peel it away with your finger nails. Then wash the area with some kind of cleaner to get the adhesive off. otherwise dirt will stick to the area and you'll have a dirt decal.... sort of. Back To Decals |
